Destination Dreamer AI
A travel assistant that also helps you visualise your trip.
The Problem
When I plan a trip it is usually inspired by some nature activity, event, or sight. For example, seeing baby turtles hatch on the beach and make their way to the ocean, searching for the Resplendent quetzal, or seeing the Northern Lights.
When your trip is not based on a specific destination, but rather an experience that you can have at a couple of different destinations, it can be difficult to focus your research efforts, and you have to explore all the possibilities.
Reading popular and trusted blogs often leads you to a place that's over-crowded (because it's a popular blog) or you run into your neighbour from Berlin because the SEM of that blog was hyper-localised to your lovely kiez.
You might explore sites like booking.com or AirBnB but then you're usually bound to a specific destination due to research fatigue, and you might miss out on the lesser-known spots where your desired experience would be so much more special.
Beyond the difficult research efforts, I also sometimes run into the problem where I arrive at a destination and it somehow doesn't have the 'feel' or aesthetic I was imagining. This raises the question: "What was I imagining, and why?". This aspect got me wondering about the ability to visualise my trip better.

The Destination Dreamer AI is an assistant that helps me plan my next dream destination by asking me the right questions and generating dreamy images of the activities or environment I describe.
The assistant is programmed to ask the right questions to narrow down my options to three.
It uses Generative AI to create dreamy images of each message that describes a scenario, environment, or activity.
It will not generate any images for irrelevant messages (e.g. asking questions, saying thank you, etc.).
The assistant remembers my preferences, so if I want to do some research of my own, I can always pick up the conversation at a later stage. No need to save anything.
Current feature in development: NLP (natural language processing) is used to automatically summarise each conversation, which is then saved in a sidebar (similar to how ChatGPT does it), so I can easily see all the trips I am currently dreaming of and return to planning easily.
Future feature development: I want to be able to ask the assistant to check the weather at my destination (or three suggested destinations) at the time I plan to travel. In the back-end, the program will intelligently return functions that I want to be called (e.g. getWeather) along with their arguments (e.g. city, country, dateRange, etc.) based on the textual enquiry. In the front-end, it will respond with a visual weather forecast.
